My 1991 suzuki dt 115 wont start you can turn over the ignition and here the choke come on and open up but wont go any futher. The boat is not in gear its in neut. but wont do anything. went and bought new battery and still does it. Could it be a bad coil pack? dont know anything about boat engines so please be easy on me.

check the cutoff on the controls just under the throttle should be a little rubber button like device thats plugged in or the engine wont turn over.

First make sure that your kill switch is in place .... otherwise it would never start, then you must pump the ball on the fuel line untill it is hard and then proceed ....

Go to Engine FAQs, Jetta. Do some simple troubleshooting and let us know what you find.

Buying/replacing stuff is a very expensive and not very effective way to diagnose a problem.

Welcome aboard, and good luck. :)

Checked plug at bottom of throttle body and its a wire in and out switch both wires plugged in one goes to ignition one goes toward motor. I switched the wires still the same thing winding noise no start. Is there a resistance test I can test the switch? Can I do a staight pass thru and try it. There is a crap load of wires under the center console and I dont know what goes where. Boat is kind of a no name boat but its an awesome boat. Henry O 17 CC with 115 suzuki.

Test one spark plug at a time, screw them out the motor one by one plug it back into the coil and hold the tip of the spark plug against the powerhead to see if it fires while turning the engine over, if there is spark on all 4, then you have a fuel problem .... test that and report back ..

Cant get engine turn over or even get the starter to engage so that test wont work all it does is make a low grade winding noise which sounds like choke activating Dont know wont do anything now.

In what condition is your battery terminals, I had a similar problem with my 115 years ago, took the whole starter apart and the whole works and at the end it was coroded battery terminals.
