I have a DT115 with 140 carbs and intake now on my 16' Checkmate and am about to bolt on an Evinrude 150XP V6. What should I expect?

Both. I guess I'm wondering if the 10 HP differance will be noticable between the 4 and V6. The V6 is not much heavier. Is it worth the effort?

Weight is about the same on both. The displacement on the V6 is about 25 more cubic inches. (about the size of one cylinder) I think you'll notice more torque from the V6. That XP version is Evinrude's high performance model 150. Uses special heads and 175 carbs. Actually puts out close to 165 hp. So, you are really moving up 25 hp.

Thanks, How much of a difference will that 25hp make on the top end? If my top speed is 55mph now, what should I expect with the Evinrude? Thanks, Scott

Likely you will have to move up one prop size. Could be up to 5 mph, depending on how you setup the 150. (running height and if you go with a stainless hi-rake prop.)
