Hi
Brought my old DT40 out of storage on the weekend. Changed the plugs, new gas etc and launched.
After letting the motor warm up (5 minutes) headed out into the lake gradually givng it more gas until full throttle was reached.
Cruised along for about 5 minutes.
I then decelerated quickly to an almost stop.
The motor stalled and after restarting (took quite a few tries) would not take any throttle without stalling.
After puttering along at almost idle I gradually increased throttle until full speed was reached again. This took about 10 minutes.

Once agin I stopped quickly and had to repeat the whole procedure.

Has anyone experienced this situation before or have any idea where I should start for repairs.

The carb was rebuilt 2 summers ago. All was fine when I stored it for the winter in the fall.

Thanks for your help.

High speed jets on the carbs could be dirty, or one of the new plugs that you bought could be faulty, any funny sounds like missing or anything? ........

The only sound I remember was a gradually slowing slight ticking once the motor stopped. Nothing like a miss or back fire. I will check the plugs. Have also ordered a carb kit. May be a weekend project. I will keep you posted. Thanks for the reply.

That ticking sound is normal, normally when your motor is still in gear and moving forward it does that, good luck with your weekend project, keep me posted ....

Re: Suzuki DT40 (1988) Acceleration Issue

Thanks for the help deejaycee
Spent some of my vacation working on the motor.
Replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump diaghram with the same acceleration problem.
Setlled down with a couple of pints and removed/rebuilt/reinstalled the carb. I removed a bunch of varnish/dirt.
Ran the kids around the lake on the tube for the rest of the vacation.
All is well
Thanks again.
