Re: suzuki DT65 Limit Alarm

Generally, the rev limit alarm is in addition to another alarm (water temp, water flow, oil level, oil flow) and is intended to slow the engine down to minimize damage. Sometimes it's hard to see what other alarm light is on but that is probably the case.

Not sure for your engine but most 2 strokes are suppose to run around the 5000 to 5400 rpm at Wide Open Throttle(WOT) but your owners manual should state what WOT is for your engine. Alarm is coming in for some reason, may be a hassle to find the reason.

Do you have a good stream of water from the telltale (Pee hole)? Over heating will cause the rev limiting. How long ago did you change the water pump impeller? Check the cooling system.

I believe that this motor is oil injected so next check oil levels, pump and alarm.

If you are sure that the cooling system is OK you must look at the oil injection system. There are filters sensors and pumps that will fail but you now need a repair manual to find, clean and replace the parts involved. Sorry, if you want to do it yourself you must have the book.

Re: suzuki DT65 Limit Alarm

Looking at your post again I am not sure if you are sure that the oil system is OK or that you are sure that the cooling system is ok. I would test your motor by using 50:1 premix and running it to see if it gets too hot to touch by hand. If it does you have a cooling problem, if not it could be a faulty cooling system alarm or an oil problem, possibly a sensor problem. While you are not sure of the problem, use premix.
