Suzuki DT65 throttle solenoid

Throttle solenoid tests good when I apply 12v jack, but does not move at all when starting or throttling the engine. I have no clue what supplies voltage to the solenoid, or how to get to it, or if something else up the line could be the problem. The engine starts great and will occasionally achieve full rpm without the solenoid assist. Any ideas?<br />betz

what solinoid are we disscussing? the early DT65 had a switch that controlled timing. the later after about 92 or 93 I think used a sensor. but either way the switch/sensor controls ign timimg. the solinoid is for the choke. what year DT65 are we disscussing? if it does not work or is dissconected timing wont advance and the engine will be down on power.

rodbolt<br /><br />Thanks for your response. I will check and determine the year of manufacture. Until then, all I can say is that I am referring to an electrical solinoid that is attached directly to the choke butterflies on the carbs. Obviously, it closes the choke as voltage is applied to the solinoid. I assumed the fact that the butterflies never move is associated with the lack of ability to achieve high rpm.<br />Last night I took her out without the hood, just to watch. Nothing moved...even when I started the engine.<br />It starts and runs at low speeds just fine.<br />About every 10th time I open it up it will power up outstanding...most of the time is just dies.<br />It doesn't miss or sneeze....<br />Anyway...thanks...I appreciate any ideas. I will post the year model as soon as I get home today.
