Good Morning

I just purchased a 2000 Logic CC with a 70 HP Suzuki four Stroke and I have a few very basic questions. Although I've owned a smaller runabout in the past with a 30 HP Johnson I'm not familiar with prop removal and replacement.

I need to replace the propeller on the Suzuki 4 stroke 70 hp. I removed the old propeller and I have a cotter pin and nut, a thin flat washer, a (brass?) metal flange which engages the flutes or the grooves on the prop shaft, and then on the inside there was another (brass?) metal flange which butts up to where the shaft leaves the lower end. Can anyone reccomend a diagram which will show me how these go back together when i get my new prop?

Also everything is greasy. Should I clean this all off (if so with what) and then does it need to be lubricated when I re-install, and if so with what.

Last but not least, should I trash the old prop or can they be reconditioned?

thanks you in advance for your expert advice, I really appreciate it

rob

Re: Suzuki Propeller Replacement

Hi,
Go to www.brownspoint.com and there You will find parts look up for DF70 (it is avaliable in PDF).

Prop: You can buy same prop as You have today from any Suzuki dealer or from above online store. It should be stamped on the prop what prop You have:

V1100 13 1/2 (diam) x 11 (pitch)
V1500 13 1/2 (diam) x 15 (pitch)
V1700 13 1/4 (diam) x 17 (pitch)
V1900 13 (diam) x 19 (pitch
V2100 13 (diam) x 21 (pitch)

Use waterresistant marine grease when mounting back the prop. You do not want the prop stuck on the propshaft because of rust next time you need to remove it.

If You should recondition Your old prop or buy a new I can not answer, it depends how bad it is now. It is however good to have one spare prop so maybe buy a new and then also recondition the old if possible so You can have it as spare (at home or onboard).
