Hi there
I have a Suzuki 6hp about 2 years old. the water coming out of the tell tale is just a trickle not the steady stream it once was. Also there is a lot of air coming out with the water. It doesn't matter how hard you rev it the stream is still a trickle.I don't know much about OB s yet being used to diesels so any advice greatfully recieved.
Is there a good workshop manual around?

Martin

Re: Suzuki tell tale

Hi,

Could be that You need to replace the impeller (waterpump rubber wheel) with a new. But I doubt since it is only 2 years old outboard. The impeller usually last some more years. Could also be mud, sand or similar in telltale tube. Try a thin wire in the tube and see if the stream gets better. Also make sure no obstruction in water intake on lower unit.

If a rubber wheel blade on the impeller breaks it can hinder (block) proper waterflow inside the outboard. But only way to find out if this is the case is to take off lower unit and open water pump cover and have a look at the impeller.

Is it a 6 hp 2-stroke (DT6) or a 4-stroke (DF6) You have?

Manuals:
- Suzuki orginal workshop manuals is avaliable, try brownspoint.com
- Clymer and Seloc "do it yourself" manuals are also available that hopefully cover Your model and year.

Re: Suzuki tell tale

Thanks Bo .
should have said it's a 4-stroke (DF6).Am I right in thinking that if the impeller is OK the engine is being cooled and the water is exiting someware.

Martin
