i would like to swap a 64 model drive train to a 83 model would there be any problems? I plan to change motor and outdrive. Would i need to do anything to the transom to do this? Would the hole be the same? The boat i have is a 64
18' queen marie, it is in nice shape but i want the newer version of the mercrusier. Any help would be appreciated.

No, you will also need to replace the transom shield assembly as well, the 83 drive will not fit the old 1B transom shield setup.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,....

If yer swappin' Pulleys to Prop, Yes, the transom cut out may need some trimmin', 'n maybe drillin' some holes, but it's pretty nearly what ya need...

After re-readin' Don's post, 'n the 1B, I donno...

The oldest merc transom holes I've seen, are a Close, but needin' trimmin' to fit...
