I have a 2005 Campion Explorer with a 115 hp mercury outboard this boat was a dog getting out of the hole with people and gear on board good luck getting her to plan. I was running a 15 pitch 3 blade prop rpm's were to low and like I said gutless out of the hole so I took the boat to the dealer to make sure engine was running fine scanned it everything was good. I went to the local prop guy got a 4 blade 13 pitch prop all problem fixed she now gets to plan in under 4 seconds has a top end speed of 35 mph with a 5900 rpm wot and grabs the lake with lots of bite in turns. I was starting to wonder if the boat was just too underpowered but with the right prop and some time to figure it out I think my boating problems are finally fixed.

Took the boat out again tonight I had 3 people a load off gear and same result she was a rocket out of the hole with a top end of around 35 mph rpm's running at 5900 WOT. I can't believe the difference the right prop has made with the performance of this engine so happy cause I really like the boat best 150 bucks I have spent in a long time.:joyous:

my engine is a model that was designed with a smaller 4" hub size that only michigan makes in 3 blade aluminum.... there are 4 blades that fit the 1995 and newer force engines (4-1/4) but not the earlier ones. Of course maybe there is something I could make fit...i dunno. I know I tried a mercury prop that my dad had and it hit at the hub (too wide)

That sucks my boat is a heavy one running with well over 3000 pounds sometimes and she just would not plane with that much weight was starting to get really frustrated with the boat and it is new to me this year. We live on a island in the summer months and there is nothing worse then having to make two trips across 3 miles of lake just because the boat wouldn't get everyone home with their gear in one trip. I am so glad the the problem is solved like I said best 150 buck I spent in a very long time.

no worries - i like my setup and can slalom ski with it - just got spoiled on a friend boat (ski nautique)

I did the same thing last year - went to a 15 pitch and it was much better. my boat is only 1200 lbs - 1500 with engine - with the whole family and gas, junk I'm about 2400 lbs and my 15 pitch is working fine - i can get on plane in 4 seconds with that load.... less if just me. I did notice when I was at 3000 lbs one days with 4 adults and 3 kids and a bunch of stuff that it took a little longer to plane.

Ive had the same problems with a 2007 quicksilver 670 weekender, funny enough exact same engine 115 mercury lump. We use ours out of the coast here in the uk and wer so disapointed when we collected her and bought her home, she would be a pain to get to plane the prop would let go and slip all the time. We spent 5 months correcting all the things that wer wrong eg motor height was too low, transducer was too close to motor and finaly after 12 diffent props we wer offered a powertech rxb4 stainless prop. WOW! Such a difference. Imsure you notice with yours when the hammers put down you better hold on! Shes like a differnt boat. We are also running a 13p. Even when the water get real rough the prop keeps on holding, we would also suffer with hitting rougher water and the hull would bury the bow catch the keel and would try to vear the boat dangerously, but now with this prop she holds her nose up and strides through it like it wasent there. Id never waste my time fitting a 3 blade prop again. Also the fuel economy is much better the mid range cruise was vastly improved and we accturly saw an increase in top end speed.

Want to really make a difference to your boat...... Buy a four blade prop. You wont regret it!

I hated my 115 hp mercury 4 stroke but once I put the 13 pitch 4 blade like you said this is not the same boat lots of power on take off cruises much better at a lower rpm I went out with 5 large people and gear she was up on plane in under 5 seconds I now love my boat.
