hi everyone i did see on numerous post that one of the procedures is to check if there is voltage in the kill wires that could creat a problem.

my first question what symptom would it do. second witch kill wire? to the white wire or blue wire
here is the quote im referring too:

Disconnect the kill wires from the CD and connect a DC voltmeter between the kill wires and engine ground, turn the ignition switch on and off several times. If, at any time, you see voltage appearing on the meter, there is a problem in the harness or ignition switch. At NO TIME SHOULD YOU SEE BATTERY VOLTAGE ON A KILL CIRCUIT.

I would think that if you are seeing voltage on the Kill Switch wire, you would not be able to shut the motor off with the key.

ahhh i was thinking maybe that that cylinder would have less spark...

" At NO TIME SHOULD YOU SEE BATTERY VOLTAGE ON A KILL CIRCUIT."

The above quote is not actually 100% correct because as soon as the engine is turning or running and the stator is generating power for the CD, there will be voltage (high voltage in fact) present on the kill wire (usually on Motorola and Prestolite Ignition systems). However, if the engine is stationary, then the above quote is accurate. The quoted post refers strictly to proper wiring of the ignition switch wherein a hot wire is inadvertently connected to the white (kill wire switch) which will render the engine inoperable or damage the CDM's.

Of course, the quote also says, ". . . BATTERY VOLTAGE . . ." which technically makes it 100% accurate even with the engine running since the voltage present in the kill wire with engine turning is technically not battery voltage.

Exactly as jiggz says.
From my own experience.
Have a 60Hp Chrysler with MAG II ignition and the keyswitch went out and got 12V DC from battery at the M terminals.
It fried the CD module !!!!!!
The really bad thing is that the CD module is disconntinued as R/R at CDI Electronics.
Now the engine is sitting in the garage waiting for a used CD module coming up at some auction sites. Maybe?????????

Nordin: You can retro-fit with a Prestolite ignition off a 2 cylinder engine. It does involve changing the trigger, modules, and coils, and I think the stator but the existing flywheel should work.

Yes, I know Frank but the flywheel also needs to be change. But Prestolite ignition system are not so common here in Sweden. On Force engines YES but they are also not so common and when I run in to a bad 2 cyl. Force they are always restoreable.
Was offered a retro-fit kit from Franz Marine, BUT 600 dollars and then shipping to Sweden, NO WAY.

Sometime I run in to a MAG II, but do not know when.
I have a 65Hp twin carb Chrysler, four 70-75Hp Chryslers and a 120Hp Force .
I will be able boating in the summer.
