Several things to check before buying any parts. Is the motor charging (measure voltage with a VOM across battery terminals with motor running). You should get 13 to 13.5 vdc at idle and ~ 14.5 at cruise RPM. Typically a dead tach suggests either a charging circuit problem (which may be a broken wire, a high resistance connection, a failed regulator/rectifier and/or a failed stator. I would eliminate the simple cheap stuff 1st, then make sure you know the cause of the failure before throwing 100 to $200 parts at it.<br /><br />Good luck.
