I just got my boat back from the shop where they put on a new igition module and timed the engine and adjusted the carb. Now my tach on the dash reads about 1100 at idle. Any way to check tach for accuracy. I did check the potentiiometer in the back and it is on 8cyl. Mercruiser 5.0 if that helps any

Re: tach problem

I use the Equus Digital Engine Analyzer Kit to check rpm, voltage, ohm, alternator, iginition, battery, and all sorts of tests in the tester. Hook it up correctly and gives always accurate rpm reading. I also use it to check home outlet voltage. My dash tach meter is also wacky. I also use the Equus to compare WOT and actual top speed.
