Tach Question

Is there a way to make a tach hooked up to a '87 50hp 2 stroke Yamaha motor work correctly on a '87 Johnson 110?
Asking because i have a complete console off a Bass Tracker bass boat i was thinking of "adapting" to my pontoon & would like to use as any of the gauges as i could-Got the amp, water pressure & such figured out-

judging by the wiring and the fact it has a switch to select poles i can not see why it would not work

if you get the yammy color code and the johnson color code you should be able to work out the way to wire it and with a little planning you might be able to get the indicator lights to work as well
