Just checked tach and it only has 1,2,3,4 on it. So I guess it just ain't gonna work for this motor, right? If it makes any difference, this boat came with a 115 merc. Is the tach mfr specific or what?

Some times it helps to have a known good tach that is usually used for tune ups that clips on any of the spark plug wires to make comparisons with. If you don't have a tune up tach/dwell type meter, maybe check with your neighbors to see if they may have such. Then you can use that to verify the proper position on your tach gauge to make sure you are setting yours up properly. One other option is to buy a Tiny Tach and use that for your comparison. Those Tiny Tachs work on most any ignition type engine...even lawn mower engines... JMHO! :joyous:
