Still wondering the tach wirings.. Should I connect the tach pulse to purple or grey wire on engine? I was almost certain that it is the grey one but started hesitate. So, which is the right one?

-Jaba-
I wish I knew what style ignition the 92 models had. On the 94 and up Merc style ignition the purple is 12v pos when the switch is in the on position and the gray is the tach send. I just hooked mine up that way. Maybe you can take a multimeter and test the purple for 12v when the key is on. If you get it then I would say it would be the gray wire to the send on the tach. By the way on my Bayliner the gray at the engine was changed to gray/black under the dash in case yours is prewired under the dash you may wanna check for that.
Clymer service manual says 1992 120HP Force will have the Thunderbolt CDI ignition system
(page 292).
The circuit diagram for the Thunderbolt system shows the internal powerhead wiring uses Grey wire for the Tach signal.
circuit also says wiring from the powerhead terminal block to the dashboard panel could be either Purple or Grey.
So check the color of the dashboard wire at the powerhead end first.
