I have the three pin wiring terminal female D shaped plug on my control box,My question is does anyone know which wire is which,so I dont have to take my control box apart to find out(ie,first hole on the left is? middle hole is ? hole on the right is ?.This will allow me to make a temporary plug until i can purchase a proper one from somewhere.

Also does anyone know where i can order a plug for it(I am in the UK but dont mind ordering from abroad)It is female connector on control box,so I would need a male 3 pin harness.

many thanks.

Howser, pin A is switched (purple) max load 5 amp.
pin B tachometer (gray). Pin C ground (black). That is straight from the manual. They recommend using alchol to lubricate pins.

Hi Howser
Here's how to save quite a bit of money. The OMC dealers in the U.K will rip you off for the plug, and to buy the pins and rubber connector seperately will cost even more!

Go to an outboard breakers, or service centre, and buy some old used ignition connectors, the ones which connect the ignition coils to the power pack. Shouldn't cost more than a few quid, just check to see that the connector pins aren't corroded inside.

You can wire your tach to the male half of the plug and it'll fit the female plug on your control box! (or is it the other way round?) Doesn't matter, you'll have both halves of the connector. That's what I did and it works fine.

Good Luck
Steve

Thanks Stevie.

I have an old knackered 70HP Johnson and Mariner 5 that I might be able to scavenge those parts from.
