125283R is the model number for a 1972 125hp. Gaskets, seals, and Type C are all available right here at iboats.

Re: taking off lower unit, need help!!!!

yes i did mean 1972 i was typing to fast sorry. i am going to take off the lower unit to change the impeller, what i was wanting to know is what gaskets am i going to need to change once i have it off before i put it back on. yes i did find the gear oil on here but was needing to know what if any gaskets i should get before i get started. also while i have you here i noticed some black sticky oil on the grass below the prop, about a the size of a playing card. and it was coming out from the little crack between the prop and the lower unit. i really don't know what this could be and if you may know how can i fix it? thank you so much for all the help from you guys, i love this site and all the help from it.

There are no "gaskets" per se that you need to replace, go get yourself a complete pump kit , it will come with the orings and all the stuff you will need to put it back together. The black sticky oil is unburnt 2 stroke oil running out after running the motor, pretty normal for that to happen.

Go to iboats "Boat Motor Parts" tab, you'll eventually find complete parts schematics for most Evinrude LU's & links to the parts catalouge.

Have you tried a BRP (Johnson/Evinrude) dealer?

If your just changing the impeller nothing is needed, the gasket is under the plate that you won't be disturbing, just pull the housing and old impeller off the shaft, put the new impeller in the housing and slip it back down in place making sure the impeller's slot matches up with the shaft key.
If the wear plate is good (not all scored up and grooved) then no need to replace it.
