Those old 5hp Johnnys have plain big end bearings or rollers? FR? Scott?

those good old motors were all brass bushings and originally called for a 16:1 gas:eek:il mix. 1/2 pint per gallon.

With today's better oils many folks just mix 24:1.

Yep, plain bearings throughout. OMC didn't start putting rollers in the small motors until the mid 1960s, and even then it was incrementally - an upper main here, rod crank ends there. I don't think the under 10hp models became fully jeweled until the late 1970s, early 1980s as piston ends of the rods remained plain bearings quite late in the game...
