Kind of a stupid question... but my 1987 175 is missing cylinders on and off.. the port side head is always hot after running.. but the starboard side is just barley warm.. this is all after a few minutes of runnning.

can this be the result of running on 3 cylinders?

can this be a thermostat issue with the port side head.. or a spark issue with the starboard side head...?

Re: Temp Question.. help!

I would say it's more likley a thermostat issue or even a sign of the impeller getting worn down.

May have more than one issue at hand.

How hot are we taking, have you measured it? If you dont have a temp gun, can you still leave your hand on it for a 1, 2, 3 count? Will water sizzle on it?

Get the over heat issue fixed first before running again if you have one.

If the problem with the spark is still present, you will need to troubleshoot for that further. Using an inductive timing gun while under way is a good method to troubleshoot for failing spark.
