Terminal Block - Grey with white strip wire

I have a 1973 Johnson 85 HP motor.

I think I have messed up my wiring strip. I have researched the wiring diagrams and think I have accounted for and correctly place 12 wires...which is what the diagram shows.

But...I have one wire - Grey with a white strip that I can not figure out.
Any ideas of where it belongs?
Thanks

To my knowledge there is no Gray/White stripe wire, I see no such wire in the wiring diagram either. The only gray wire would be the tachometer sensor lead.

There is however a Purple/White stripe wire. This leads to the electric choke solenoid. Are you sure about the color of that wire?

Well, I am pretty sure about the color, I have looked at it several times. I know the wires are old, and colors can be deceiving on older wires.

The puzzling thing is that the wiring diagram shows 12 wires to the terminal block...this is wire 13. I am unable to find a similar wire coming up from the large red connector in the wiring harness.

I think I will wrap it in black tape and see if there is something that does not run correctly.

Thanks for your response!

Re: Terminal Block - Grey with white strip wire

Another dumb mistake on my side...after reviewing the wiring chart for a 5th time...I now count 13 wires which should be attached to the terminal block. By process of elimination, I determined where this wire goes. I now believe it was originally purple and white.

Thanks everyone.

Next time, take some pictures before taking stuff apart. Can save a bunch of time and is way better than most peoples' memory.
