Probably the coils. Very common for them to fail from age. Parts are still available for it, too. In fact, the entire ignition is the same as your 6 hp.
Soo, I just scrap the 6 hp and move the ign. system to the 10 hp? Maybe going to far, but do you really mean it's the same system. It's 20 years between them!!
No, sorry. They were the same until 1976. 1977-79 had CD ignition. Its called the "universal magneto" and was used on several models from the early 1950's and into the 1990's. By the mid 1970's most motors had evolved to CDI. Only the smallest motors continued to use the old style magneto components.
