After the shooting at Lake Falcon by members of the Mexican drug cartel, Texas will no longer rely on the Federal Govt to protect is citizens. Six of these boats have been put into service along the border by the Texas Dept. of Public Safety.

wow.....just wow....

I wonder waht kind of hull that is.....

It Would need to be A boston whaler type.....but made of epoxy and kevelar.....not standard frp's

I wonder why they went with triple 300's and not the new 500 hp's (v8"s) that are out there.
73 mph is kinda slow.

on a side note.....Im really shocked to see that they need them....
I would cringe at the time we would need them on lake ossoyose between canada and the usa !!!

Hey oops! lots of drug trafficing in that area. Falcon Lake is a great lake to fish, I am told, if you can avoid the pockets were the drug cartels do their business. Wish it wasn't needed, but from what I hear, is way behind the time in need. I would hope we never have to do that on our northern border!

Since the vessel is made to take a bullet, I am wondering if the 3 300's is so if one takes a bullet to the block, they still have 2/3rds power.:confused:

Fact: That is a Yellowfin hull.

Opinion: 73 sounds about right or slightly optimistic given the load they added.

Did you know: Running down boats is not about running at top speed. Usually, they'll pursue someone and it's not in perfect glass-flat water. The law wins in boats like that because they'll hammer through stuff at 60-65, and the other boats will wear down or be unable to take a pounding at that kind of speed. It's also impractical to patrol in something that can run 85-90 MPH to run with offshore performance boats.

Often a boat chase is a joint effort anyway. It's about interception, not flat-out pursuit.

I was boarded by the USCG last outing and they were sporting a similar rig (Gulf of Mexico). Noticed quite alot of VERY nice electronics with redundancy everywhere. Man, we do give our boys some nice stuff!
