Just like to say thanks to everyone who helped answer the many questions I had when trying to get an old 28hp Johnson running. We took the boat out today after installing a new fuel pump diaphragm and got the old motor going reasonably well.
We started by adjusted the high speed needle and got the motor revving out but had trouble with the motor bogging down badly when accelerating. Also the motor would miss a lot when decelerating as well. To overcome this we tried adjusting the small nylon cam on the throttle linkage that?s used for setting up the link and sync. What a difference that made the motor suddenly had no trouble getting up on the plane, also the motor decelerated better but still misses a bit , not sure how to fix it and probably don't need to. I have posted a link that shows the motor going, hope it works

Regards Kevin

Re: Thanks

No Crocs here in Brisbane thankfully.:joyous:
I grew up in NZ (Whangaparaoa peninsula), and lived close to the beach, it was such a great place to go fishing sailing etc. Can't say I have come across anywhere in Australia quite like it. I don’t miss the rain and cold southwesterly winds though
