I have a 97 25hp,Johnson 2cyl 2 stroke bought new which has about 190
hrs on it, a great little motor. Planning on keeping it even after I get a new
bigger rig because it's good for small to medium lakes. I use Evin/John factory
XD-30 carefully mixed at 50:1. I mix in about 1 ounce of OMC Carbon Guard
(a bit less than they recommend) with each quart of oil to save a step when
filling the 6 gal tank each time with shell 87 fuel. My question should I just move up to XD-50 oil and forget the carbon guard?

I also use 2+4 fuel stabilizer on and off during the season and the last tank of the year run it with the 2+4 storage mix, run the carb dry and fog it just before it dies, still runs great after 13 years have never had to use engine tuner. What ever fuel is left in the 6 gal my neighbor uses for his weed eater. Do you guys think the 2+4 really helps keep the carb clean?

I feel spring in the air it won't be long Thank you Coastalguy

Just keep on doing what you're doing. Everything you are doing sounds good. I would probably run the stabilizer all of the time, to keep the guesswork out of it.
I run Seafoam (in place of CarbonGuard) and Stabil Marine (in place of 2+2), but that's for pure economic/availability reasons, not performance issues.

XD-50 has the carbon treatment built in so that you don't have to use the carbon treatment additive. It is a TC-W3 rated synthetic blend as well.

You should add a fuel stabilizer whenever fuel is added.
