I have a 1979 Merc 470.
I just replaced the fuel pump ,carb with a remanfactured one and had a new fuel line made. When I tried to start it I am not getting any fuel down the carb. I can tell that I do have fuel getting there but the carb does not seem to be getting any gas.
I had a new fuel line made when I replaced the fuel pump.

1. If the gas it getting to the carb, is it getting into it? Is the filter in the carb inlet installed properly?
2. You probably won't see gas in the carb when cranking the engine, you have to pump the throttle for the accelerator pump to work. Does it squirt fuel if you pump the throttle?
3. How do you know fuel is getting TO the carb?

1:) I need to check if its installed correct. Its fresh out the box the carb from flying fish carb.

2) I will pump the trottel and see what happens

3) When I removed the fuel line I saw that it was full from the fuel pump to the carb and I had a small leak untill i tightened the fitting.

It takes alot of cranking to fill a dry carb, not sure what you have there but if it's a holley you can fill the bowls from the overflow, use a small funnel each bowl will take about a double shot then the accelerater pump will start working. We always do it that way for starting a fresh engine for the first time because you want it start immediately with no excessive cranking. too much cranking wipes the prelube off the cam lobes, and with a dry carb thats what happens.
