Ya know what's weird? Our friends on the left are terrified of the power that the Bush Admin. supposedly craves. They rant on and on about the "gutting of the Constitution", "shredding of the Bill of Rights". They warn us that this is a fascist dictatorship in the making. Yet many of them want to limit or eliminate our right to bear arms . . . hmmmmmmmm

By their definition of an "assault" rifle, a Ruger 10/22 would be illegal. If they had any brains at all they would know there is no such thing as a semi-automatic "assault" rifle. By definition an assault rifle is select fire, meaning being able to fire in both full auto like a machine gun and semi-auto. Grips and magazines have nothing to do with the classification of an assault rifle.
Politicians are trying to get votes by looking like they are protecting us from ourselves.
The punks on the streets are not using an AR-15 or SKS or any other rifle.
911 does not defend our lives and property from the bad guys. Being able to shoot back does.
Politicians shouldn't be afraid of law abiding citizens owning firearms. If they are, why would that be?

There was a big discussion on a radio show here in Baltimore about the steady (as in...will not go away)murder rate in the city. The discussion soon turned to this assault weapon ban, as if it had anything at all do do with the city murder rate. Apparently, the two subjects must be linked somehow in the psyche of the general public (wonder how that happened).

Fact is, an enormously huge percentage of these murders is 18-20 yr old black males killing other 18-20 yr old black males with handguns.

Sorry, but you could ban ALL firearms & these kids would still find ways to kill each other. That is not a problem that can be solved by any weapons ban - it is a social issue and should be dealt with as such.

Just my "2 cent".

It did Absolutely Nothing to lower the Crime Rate between 1994, when it was enacted,.. to 2004, when it was Allowed to Die........

And,.. Much to the Dismay of the Liberals,......

There was NO spike in the Crime Rate like the Liberalas said would happen.........

I wonder just What they'll use for Selling/ Talking Points This Time,..??..??......

Yah, The 1994 law spurred me ta go out n' buy, (prior to the law takin' effect o' 'course), my own li'l collection of fairly cheap, fairly common firearms n' lot's of ammo that were grandfathered into the 1994 law. Hope yer right Bond-o, (that it is a carbon copy of the 1994 law) as I jus' skimmed it. Liberals are really quite irrational about gun control, (among many other things). One of the nastiest American cities is Washington DC, where guns are outlawed. Why do Libs want to deny me the right to deal with an emergancy caused by someone who does not obey their stupid gun laws? Ya know that I and other Cornservatives would save their sorry arses from harm too? Ya know the old saying: "If you outlaw guns then only outlaws will have guns". There is also an investment angle ta common usefull guns as well, ya know! Jus' think about a real modern deflationary depression for just a moment. We do have a 'demographic peak' very soon ya know! Please ponder what would have true value? #1 Some gold #2 Some $100 bills # Your nearly worthless stock portfolio #4 A Ham sandwich #5 A 22 rifle with 20,000 rounds to protect all of the above n' put meat in the pot tonight?
