Re: The Spoiled Under-30 Crowd

I have found that saying no to handouts have made our kids grow up. They all were PO'd for awhile, but they couldn't say anything when we asked them if they were going to take care of us when we needed it. That there is exactly why the money train has been cut off for all of them. My wife and I have to think about our future now that they are grown and gone. ......Of course the grandkids get special treatment from us :D

Re: The Spoiled Under-30 Crowd

you mean like a "transistor" radio, that picked up 4 stations vs sat radio or an ipod

scooters with metal wheels

bikes with 1 gear

4x65 AC (4 windows open going 65)

legos were bricks and only bricks

helmets were for footbal

soccer was called kickball

kids were told to sit down and be quiet in school instead of being given drugs

pizza was never there in 30 minutes

but it beats what my dad went through and what his dad went through...

I really can wait to see what my grandkids grow up with...

Re: The Spoiled Under-30 Crowd

He is older not old, and he can still drop a piano on ya head.

My dad and mom are in their 80's no one is quite sure how old my dad is cause he has been 87 for 3-4 years now.

So 70+ is the new 50+.

Plus his mind is clear as a bell don't try to put nothin over on him.

Remember pulling a wagon made of wood during the summer, and riding a garbage can cover down a hill in the winter.

We got our first black and white tv when i was about 10 and it was a hand me down from my dads boss.

My dads first car didn't have a fuel pump in it, we had to back up hills.

And the first time i saw color tv was when we won one in a raffle, Boy Scout troop was raffling off a color 9 inch tv and we won it.

ROFLMAO :D:D:D:D:D

I used the Quote button but iBoats said I there were 7 pics included and I could not post....something over yonder is hiccuping this morning.

IMO, the Interstate system is to blame.
Before that, we still had family farms and values, corporations didn't run the Country, there were no electronic gadgets for the old farts to complain about, life was simpler.
(That outta give this thread a little kick start!:))

Re: The Spoiled Under-30 Crowd

I remember back in the day.
My grandma had a shared phone line. They shared it with a neighbor, yep the call could be for either house. We used to go to someones house to see if they were home. Never called first.

We had 3 tv stations, i think. I dont know for sure, was never inside long enough to find out. Spent all my waking hours outside exploring mother nature.

Now I own a 50" plasma and 14 remotes.

I also remember womens lib and all the bra burnings, sure was a sight to see all those young ladies braless and halter tops. Ah the good old days. :D
