Do you really think that nuking a capital city in the middle east would be the end of our troubles with that region? That it would stop terrorism? Really?

!?

Obviously you don't know anything about nukes.... a small one detonated at 15,000 ft would only break windows, nothing but an attention getter.

I grew up in Medford, Or. in the 50's. White City, which is about 5 mi. away was one of the biggest camps in the US. Medford at the time I was growing up had a large Japanese community.... still does. They were doing well then and are doing better today.

Do you ever get tired of being wrong?.... or are you just used to it?

"They were doing well then and are doing better today."

That statement is the very essence of bigotry. You see some prosperous Japanese families and assume that each is equivalent to all the others. There's some Japs doing well here so therefore the camps must not have hurt anybody.

Like I said, your imagination at work.

I don't think I'll buy any of the new stamps unless they're out of all the others.8)

I don't like to let it be know on here, because then my arguments carry very little weight, and my opinions don't get respected. Which is okay I suppose since in all reality I know I have a ton to learn. I am almost 22 yrs old. Ridiculous huh.

I have no idea what we should do because I have no idea what would constitute as a victory or as an ends to the terrorist threat. We could never realisticaly stop that threat. I just don't think that nukes is the answer. I can see that causing far more issues than we have even now. If we can destroy the terroist infrastructure without killing a ton of innocent people I'm all for it.

Opps trying to edit my post and instead quoted it...............ugh

Well, setting aside the fact that your earlier recommendations included nuking all of Syria, I think that's pretty ballsy to recommend playing with nukes like they are harmless fireworks. And setting aside the very distinct possibility that it wouldn't detonate at 15,000 feet but at 5,000 or 500, what exactly is the next step if they don't "see the light" and suddenly become compliant sellers of oil who scrape and bow when in the presence of the Mighty Americans? What next? You've kind of upped the ante in a big way there, and all you can do to top that is actually drop the nukes ON the city, which we already know is an idea you are apparently comfortable with anyway. But most of the civilized world probably isn't so eager to start tossing nukes around like they were toys. At least the part of the civilized world that isn't actively seeking to bring on the End Times.

This kind of reckless, macho, "cowboy" thinking is exactly the kind of thing that got us chin deep in the muck we are already in. "Shock and awe" didn't exactly cause the Iraqis to roll over and wet themselves the last time, did it? I think that if you thought about it, you would see that that would be biting off an awful lot more than we can chew right now, seeing as how we are still chewing on Iraq, without having made it much more digestable in three years.

Still nobody wanting to touch that gasoline thing, huh? We'll finance our enemies and then back ourselves into a corner with them where nukes and more saber-rattling is all we can think to do to get out of the corner. No wonder so many Americans are getting sick of this BS!

Would it make you feel better if it was an air/fuel bomb?

So, I'm to assume you have parked your car/truck/motorcycle and are now walking/bicycling, or riding a horse/cow/ox?

"Would it make you feel better if it was an air/fuel bomb?"

No. I think the whole idea is a bad one. I don't think for one minute that a display like that will stop terrorism and I can hardly believe that anyone would seriously think that. If "shock and awe" and fireworks were the solution, then the problem would already be solved.

"So, I'm to assume you have parked your car/truck/motorcycle and are now walking/bicycling, or riding a horse/cow/ox? "

Of course not. Does that mean that I shouldn't think or talk about becoming less reliant on our enemy's oil until I do? You were one of the ones talking about needing to dry up the financing for terrorism in the middle east. Well, think of that next time you see someone's big old V8 engine idling in the parking lot while they stand around BSing or are in the store getting a latte. There's a few cents more towards the price of an IED somewhere.

I know, I know, if we can't do whatever we want and waste as much energy as we want, then the terrorists will have won... Best to just try an airburst over a middle eastern capital to see if we can't scare them out of hating us, rather than think seriously about weaning ourselves off of their oil.

The whole problem that I can see is that the world Muslim/Islamic leaders condemn what the fringe is doing but they are doing nothing to find, stop, or control those people. At that point it becomes tacit approval.

Which is exactly why it's bad form to alter quoted text. You have to read the whole thing, not just a couple of words, to understand that I was illustrating why crunch's assertion that just because some people are doing well now, it doesn't mean that the ones who were detained weren't hurt. Guess I should have spelled it out for you the first time round.

Say, does anyone think that crunch's little annimated flag of surrender is cute?

Okay, first you complain that they don't speak out. Then when you find out you're wrong, you find something else to complain about. The leaders you are complaining about are not the leaders of the terrorists. In fact many of them are in fact doing a lot to find and stop those people. Some are doing our torture for us. Saudi Arabia has caught and executed many Al Qaeda members. How many of those people have the leaders of your church found and stopped?

There you go again, distorting everything you read to fit your own agenda.... I'm saying you are full of Bull Shist... and yea, I think it's kinda cute, and humiliating for you.
