What will happen if I run a 150(v6) without therostats?

Not a good idea as it could cold sieze in water that is really cool but most likely engine will overheat at low speeds.Why do you what to remove them as they are there for a purpose?

If you're overheating you have a problem. The odds that the t-stats are bad are somewhere between zilch and unbelievable. If in doubt, they can be easily tested in a pan of water on the stove top.

Water pump, poppet, water delivery tube seals, snail shells, string algae, sand, etc.

Engine was running hot(quit pissing after running several minutes of running the motor).Took them out to see if it would maintain a stready stream (which it stopped after several minutes). Checked the therostats in a pan and they opened. Plan on puting them back in and going through the poppett valve again. Thanks for the advise

If you haven't gone through the water pump recently, do it. Pay special attention to the condition of the top of the housing, and the base plate. They should be smooth as a baby's behind. If they have grooves, they'll take out a new rotor in minutes, or at least degrade performance considerably.

Put therostats back in and went through poppett valve again. Put new water pump kit in last May and replaced exhaust gaskets 3 weeks ago. Runs ok above 3000 RPMs but still runs hot at slower speed. Any Ideas?

Low water supply pressure. Either something is wrong with the pump, the delivery tube and seals, or the poppet. I don't care if you went through it yesterday, something's wrong.

When replacing the poppett valve the gormmet looked good so I did not replace it. Could using the old gormmet with a new poppett kit cause this problem?

The seat (grommet) can pop up out of it's mounting hole and block the poppet open. If it's dead loose in the block, peen around it a bit to tighten it up.

It is possible for an inexperienced mechanic to do something wrong. It is nearly impossible for him to admit it.

The grommet seemed tight, and I know they are problems replacing them. I will take your advice and let someone help me replace it later next week. I will Let you know what happens.
