I bought a Yamaha outboard from the iboat website last season. It sounded like a good deal.2004 F50 with controls. The kid who took my order said it should arrive in a week.It took two weeks + to arrive.(he told me he tells everyone about a week!)The cowl had a large scratch and the paint around the tell tale outlet was scratched really bad.Ok.It's used and not a big deal,I'll touch-up the paint sometime. It was always a little hesitant to start when cold last season, but it was quiet and used very little fuel compared to my old 2 stroke.Well, winter comes around and I drain the carbs and put her away until this April. Now it doesn't start with fresh fuel and recharged battery. It was brought to my Yamaha dealer today and I'm awating his diagnosis. No big deal you say? This Yammy is two years old.It looks like s@@t with the scratched cowl. The dealer tells me it isn't a USA motor and isn't covered under warranty.I was lied to about delivery time. The bottom line is;find a Yamaha dealer near you and buy from him.New or used,Yamaha has transferrable warranties!iboats will decieve you with phony ads like 'imagine a pristine lake' and 'a gently used outboard'Remember that break-in time is crucial for these engines.Who broke my engine in?If it sounds too good to be true it probably is.

Hate to hear about the iboats motor. I've heard nothing but good things over the years from folks who have purchased motors from here. Hopefully it will be something minor. Did you do anything else to winterize it besides drain the carbs? Maybe next time a new motor would be in order, so you know who broke it in and serviced it. Not knowing how it was broke it in...That can happen no matter where you buy a used one...

I've drained the water seperator more times than I can count. The gasoline is 10 minutes old.The fuel pump squirts fuel 5 feet onto the lawn.I can hear the carb bowls fill up after each draining. The spark this thing produces melted my tester. What else can I do?Guess I'm in for a thrashing from my Yamaha dealer next week.Shoulda'known better.

No Rick,What I mean is if you buy used from a dealer you normally get the remainder of the Yamaha warranty.I got 60 days from iboats. It was a year old when I bought it.You wouldn't expect too much trouble from a year old 4 stroke would you? These are gray market, fleet motors that get the s@@t kicked out of 'em and then get passed along to the unsuspecting. They throw in some new controls to sweeten the deal then you're on your own.Don't buy from them.Keep the money local.
