I bought a Yamaha outboard from the iboat website last season. It sounded like a good deal.2004 F50 with controls. The kid who took my order said it should arrive in a week.It took two weeks + to arrive.(he told me he tells everyone about a week!)The cowl had a large scratch and the paint around the tell tale outlet was scratched really bad.Ok.It's used and not a big deal,I'll touch-up the paint sometime. It was always a little hesitant to start when cold last season, but it was quiet and used very little fuel compared to my old 2 stroke.Well, winter comes around and I drain the carbs and put her away until this April. Now it doesn't start with fresh fuel and recharged battery. It was brought to my Yamaha dealer today and I'm awating his diagnosis. No big deal you say? This Yammy is two years old.It looks like s@@t with the scratched cowl. The dealer tells me it isn't a USA motor and isn't covered under warranty.I was lied to about delivery time. The bottom line is;find a Yamaha dealer near you and buy from him.New or used,Yamaha has transferrable warranties!iboats will decieve you with phony ads like 'imagine a pristine lake' and 'a gently used outboard'Remember that break-in time is crucial for these engines.Who broke my engine in?If it sounds too good to be true it probably is.
