1996 200 carbed saltwater series non 0x66 the engine runs great but skips a WOT . Fuel consumption seems to be high 1.75 - 1 mpg. the seller took it to a dealer ship and they a compression test don't have numbers on hand and a leak down test and it failed The leak down numbers are listed as Starboard: 30-80-8 / Port: 0-12-0 and the receipt lists #1 & #3 cyl are bad. I?m not a mechanic so I?m not sure what this all means but he want's 800 bucks for the motor with all guages & controls. during the test run I couldn't tell anything was wrong with it except for fuel burn .I just concerned about whether its even worth it to keep and fix whats needed or rebuild

any experts

Unfortunately I do not meet this criteria, but can give you my opinion. Not sure what those leak down numbers mean, but if it failed, then it has low compression. If you were to buy this motor you are taking a risk as it probably needs a rebuild. If the motor is cheap enough and you can afford to have it rebuilt, it may be worth it. You can also try a decarb and see if that helps, it may, but still be prepared to rebuild it, which is like the worst case scenario.

Good luck
