I found an old boat(1983) that has not been in the water since 2008. The motor crank with a little work and sounded ok considering the carbs. What are some things I should check on the fiberglass hull?

hi hi. !

uh......everything......

check the transom by tapping it with a rubber mallet.
the deck by the same....don't just stomp around on it.
also its a good idea to weight the boat and compare it to manufacturers specs.

its another good thing to read lots here......learn form what we do to our boats.....but what ever you do......dont instantly think that the whole boat is rotten....it might not be

Start up the engine, check oil level, make sure water isn't leaking into oil with a cracked block-this basically makes the boat worthless. Check blowby amount to see if you are in for a rebuild any time soon. Other then that, check the rest of the boat out as much as possible-but it probably only needs minor repairs if anything. If you get it, follow an in depth guide of dewinterizing with no short cuts. Good luck to you, I really like my 1975 19ft tri-haul, hope you turn out the same.

Umm, first part of the process is to tell us what type of boat it is!!! And maybe include some pics so we can see its over all condition. The condition it was kept in will tell you many things!
