Hey, if religious pharmacists can deny birth control, why can't muslim taxicab drivers deny service?

Hey, I think the whole thing is crap and they both should just do their freakin' jobs and leave their personal lives at home, but I smell a double standard coming on here. Apparantly it is okay for "approved" religion to intervene in service oriented jobs, but not "unapproved" religion. Religion is a personal thing, keep it personal, and leave it out of the work place...

You seem to have the idea that the religion here is telling the airport how to do business, but in fact it is only providing guidance to its followers. Fact that the airport obtained a copy is irrelevant.

As a Christian, I too have religious principals that govern my behavior even at work. If asked to violate one, I'll have a decision to make, just as these drivers do.

"Hey, if religious pharmacists can deny birth control, why can't muslim taxicab drivers deny service?"
Because they have contracted with the airport, they are obligated to provide service. These drivers absolutely can choose to deny service, but it will be a breach of contract for which there are consequences.

If they don't like the rules, pull their licenses. One warning. Have a nice day.

And if they happen to be here on a work visa, jack um, rack um and send them back.

How can you be so unfeeling?... so un-PC?

Don't you know these people have children to support? Welfare to claim? Medi-care and Food Stamps?

Haven't you heard? The US now provides SS benifits for Illegals...

Come one, cum all... anyone got a rag?... seems I'm having something stuffed right down my throat.

Come on crunch lets not exaggerate, they come into the country get a bogus social security and go to work. What they pay into social security they consider the price that they have to pay to work in the country.

Snip.

TOCKTON, Calif. - Since illegally crossing the Mexican border into the United States six years ago, Ángel Martínez has done backbreaking work, harvesting asparagus, pruning grapevines and picking the ripe fruit. More recently, he has also washed trucks, often working as much as 70 hours a week, earning $8.50 to $12.75 an hour……

Snip
Not surprisingly, Mr. Martínez, 28, has not given much thought to Social Security's long-term financial problems…..

Snip
Last year, Mr. Martínez paid about $2,000 toward Social Security and $450 for Medicare through payroll taxes withheld
from his wages.

An agreement the Bush administration reached with Mexico on Social Security benefits would allow illegal aliens granted amnesty in the future to claim credit for the time they worked illegally.

<<But Mark Lassiter, a spokesman for the Social Security Administration, said the agreement doesn't change U.S. law. The law states that those who do not have authorization to work will not get benefits under a totalization agreement.

"To get Social Security benefits, you do have to be legally in the United States. This agreement does not address in any way immigration, immigration laws or override current law," he said, adding that a 2004 law, the Social Security Protection Act, prevents illegal aliens from getting benefits.

But the seniors group said the 2004 law also states that if those aliens later get legal status -- through an amnesty or some sort of legalization plan such as the one President Bush and the Senate tried to enact last year -- they would be able to collect the benefits based on their time as illegal workers. >>

I believe that there is a Republican Senator from Arizona, that has proposed an amendment to this bill that would not let illegal that interred and worked illegally, collect benefits for the time that they worked illegally. At least I hope they won,t be able to collect them.
