I have a '94 175 XRi fuel injected OB that I recently purchased. Almost every time I start the day fishing the motor fires up and idles for about a minute or 2 before stalling. No matter what, this engine will not start or fire after it stalls.

Then through trial and error I learned that if I take the engine hood completely off and turn the key the motor runs flawlessly and no longer stalls at idle.

It will only do this in the morning or first trip of the day, never again for that trip.

It's almost like it's starving for air, but it would starve for air all the time if that's the case. Anyone seen this and why it happens?? I look like an idiot with a Mercury at the launch every time I have to do this.

Thanks
