This RATZAKRATZA keyboard doesn't work correctly

Sometimes I type 20 or 30 characters. When I look at the screen maybe 12 to 15 characters are displayed.

I changed the batteries (HP wireless) and went through the troubleshooting for the USB port. It claimed "device is working properly". I updated the driver. Said driver is the best one.

Now it appears to mostly work okay. Drops a character now and then so it might take double or triple editing to get my text correct.

The wireless mouse (same USB port) has been working alright all along.

What happened?

Think I will move this to non-boating tech.

I had a wireless keyboard, and had the same type thing happen, and had wireless mice that never lasted more than 6 months, even with new batteries.
I finally gave up and went back to wired keyboard and mouse. Problems are now gone. It's much easier to deal with that little cord than the things not working.

I (mostly) agree with Don - my main marble mouse is wired and the keyboard on both my Macs are wired. HOWEVER, I have a Logitech wireless mouse that is a real trooper (M305). I've beaten the poor thing as a travel mouse, and it hangs in no problem. If I were to try a wireless keyboard (and didn't use a Mac), I'd probably lean toward Logitech.

Boy, I have been using wireless keyboards and mice for several years now, with no problems at all.

Make sure you cell phone or other wireless devices are no where near your keyboard or wireless receiver for the keyboard.

If it makes you feel any better I've gone through 2 wired keyboards in the past month. I guess you could say they don't make things like they used to.

What Bubba1235 said. Also Southkogs is right, logitech is an excellent brand. How far away are you? How many other usb devices are installed, what operating system? You could also try uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them. Here is the microsoft support bulletin in trouble shooting wireless keyboards.
Troubleshoot response failures in wireless keyboard or mouse
I've fixed this before basically following these steps. I haven't had much luck with HP peripherals, it may well be toast.
