I've been using my 40 year old Sears paint spray guns for many years, spraying away at 40 - 50 psi in a cloud of atomized over-spray that drifts over my makeshift "spray booth" and over the neighborhood. I've been looking at some of the more modern alternatives, but am not interested in adding yet another air supply in my crowded garage. It looks like I could adapt my existing compressor to function with HVLP - but it would be marginal at best. So, I've started looking at LVLP.
My workhorse compressor is a Dewalt, 1.8 HP, 15 gallon tank that puts out 5.4 cfm at 90 psi. Would that work reasonably well with the new LVLP guns? Amazon has an LVLP gun in the $100 range and HF has one at $14.95. Does the HF model produce acceptable results? I'd be painting maybe some woodworking products, some stuff on my boat and maybe some fabricated metal pieces.
