I have a '98 Evinrude model E50TSLECC. I have had issues with the engine not running in gear at idle speed. I have discovered that the cam roller and throttle roller were both worn/damaged. I have repaired them both. Checking everything over, I have discovered that when I shift the motor into gear, I do not get any movement in the cam lever or spark lever until a good bit past the idle detent. Once the cam lever actually moves, the spark lever and the throttle cam move instantly. When the throttle lever is moved back to idle, it stays in a position with the spark lever and throttle cam advanced. When look at BRP website, I noticed they show two different throttle cables. I am thinking this is an error, however, I was curious about whether or not the throttle cable should be in the upper or lower hole in the cam lever. Any ideas about whether I should move the throttle cable up or not? Also, shouldn't the cam lever and spark lever both advance as the motor is shifted into gear. It seems as though the motor will run fine once you move the throttle up from idle, however, it is turing to many rpm's by that time and can be a bear when docking or trailering the boat. Thanks for any help!
