Anybody know the best way to set throttle cable on a 1991 evinrude 225? I having a hell of a time with the clymer manual. Engine Idle is a bit rough and was told this could be the culprit.

After warm up, have throttle control lever in neutral position, then adjust the idle rpm to one of the following settings which can be done in your driveway via a flushette.

The normal idle rpm will drop down when you have the engine in the water.

Engine with a 20" shaft = 1200 rpm.

Engine with a 25" shaft = 1400 rpm.

Note that a rough idle can be attributed to an assortment of things such as faulty compression an/or ignition (spark), fouled carburetors.
