throttle cable help

Hi everyone, I need some Help I just bought a 87 bayliner capri 1700 it has a 125 force outboard.okay so the issue I'm having is I just install a controlled bx for gear n throttle so when changing the cables the throttle cable doesn't fit now is to long for some reason. I just change the bx cables are in working order. the bx that I installed was the same as the old one the gear cable works find. I would appreciate any help in this problem thanks

Welcome.
You sure it's the right shifter?
You need to start at the shifter.
Unhook the cables at the motor.
Install the cables in the shifter first then install on the motor.
If too long at the motor end adjust the cable in the shifter.
Then reinstall on the motor.

Hi jerry and thank for your reply, yes its the same shifter came of a 88 boat, its weird I thought it would be plug and play since everything was the same, I'm lost because the throttle cable is about 3in longer away from stud in engine compartment grrr.

The cable connectors on the motor side.
One(throttle) is about 3 in long the other(shifter) is 1 in long.

Hey jerry I appreciate ur help but I got it working.took some time to catch on what was wrong so im posting the issue.very simple lol just because it looks the same doesnt mean it is.i bought the control from the exact boat but not knowing that inboard and out board have diffrent setting in the inside of the control.the inboard control has all the mechanics to the back pushing the throttle cable away from the stud on a out board going back to the old one I notice on that one the mechanics was forward. so after doing some surgery on the control and moving the parts like the old one was and when done it was a success works great ,again Ty for your time jerry
