Have had a sticking throttle cable that got annoyingly bad last season. Had a spare box/cable from the old donor boat. I pulled the panel that the box is mounted on, and saw sand/debris behind there from when the boat was dunked. Crazy that I'm still chasing things 4 (5?) years later. Barrels of the cables and screws on the back of the box were corroded. Opened the box up, and saw what once was grease mixed with a good amount of sand. Cable itself was super stiff. Turns out that sand doesn't make a good lubricant. Should have disassembled the whole box but didn't have it in me today. I cleaned it out and regreased, and damn, what a difference. Honestly surprised that the thing worked at all.
