Throttle only button problems

I know everyone is sick of this question,but here I go! I have a 1986 Basstracker with what I believe is the Quicksilver Commander 3000.The throttle only button won't work.The only way to idle up the engine is to cram it in gear.I'm sure this isn't safe and I know it is hard on my engine. I have two questions.(1) Is there an easy fix and(2)if not what other controls will replace it without replacing throttle cables,wiring,etc.Any help will be greatly appreciated! Spuds

Did you check that the cables connected to the engine are in sinc. If not adjust the Rev Neut Foward cable so that the shifter is in sinc with the neutral so you can idle up in neutral not foward
