Throttle replacment

The throttle was in not so great of shape when I got the boat a few months ago. It was pointing down instead of the upright position & the guy was using it that way. The mech. where it was stored fixed it to the right position & it does work, but it's a little hard & sometimes I'm fumbling with it to get it into neutral because it has to be pulled out & if it's not in the perfect position it won't go. There's a lot of slop & I even think I'm not really getting to WOT on the motor. It like the sound of the motor to me tells me it's got more RPM's in it. What I'm asking is: Where is the best place to buy a new throttle? I don't have power tilt & trim, so it's just a basic throttle. I've looked in the Overtron's catalog & those are one's with all the bells & whistles & $$$$. If anyone has a suggestion let me know.

Re: Throttle replacment

How about right here on iBoats. Right below the IBoats logo at the top of this page is the "Boat Parts and Accessories" button. Click it and look at control boxes. Otherwise there is always E-bay, Craigs List, etc. Or check your local dealer for a used/new assembly.

First I would check the cables. If they are stiff a new control box won't help and the stiff cables will just wear out the new box. Secondly you may just need to grease up the old one. If you do that use white grease.

I don't think it's the cables that are giving me problems. It's just the throttle itself, it's just sloppy. Trying to pull it out into neutral is a pain, it go's but I have to fumble around with it. Everything, cable, control wires, & steering rods/arms are & have been very well greased. I think it's just the throttle body itself. I priced them here & on ebay & had slight sticker shock, wasn't expecting $200 +. I wish there was a salvage yard nearby. Oh well, I'll keep looking. Thanks, MAXX
