Re: throttle

Give it a good pull straight out where the base of the lever goes into the control box and it should come out. Sometimes they require you to disassemble them, as they get crudded up inside. May need a good cleaning as they can be stubborn sometimes. Also, jockey the throttle forward and reverse a bit to see if that helps while pulling. May not be perfectly centered for it to pull out. Could be a linkage adjustment at the motor also.

Re: throttle

Just how much throttle can you give the engine in neutral, my 86 50HP Force seems to only raise the idle slightly, is there a stop or something?

Re: throttle

Localboater I just found out from these guys that the idle up lever doesn't move the throttle much to prevent you from over-refing it in neutral. Make sure you throttle cam mark is against the nylon bushing on the throttle shaft to get the most ref out of it. mine doesn't move that far but now it will ref to 3000 if I'm not careful.

Re: throttle

Thanks for the help!<br />and BTW is 28MPH ok for an 86 14' bayliner capri, with a 50HP (well 35 at the prop) Force engine, unloaded and with one person in the boat?
