i'm almost sure one or both of these (#10 in pic in link) is missing on my alpha drive.
i have .056 side to side play. my question is..........
if i install 2 new washers as per parts, will that be ok? or should i get extras and shim tighter. it could be in the mercruiser manual but either i'm having a duh moment or am looking in the wrong place
also could this play cause a slight viberation at times?
u-joint, drive shaft, and gimble bearing are all new and shop says engine alinement is right on. have an alinement bar coming to check my self.

bent prop, blade or prop shaft will cause a vibration though.

Re: thrust washer on bell housing

i have two new ss props that i switch out with when i change lakes and it does it with both. it dosnt happen very often and the only time i notice it is when the lake is still and were on plane. the cover over the motor will start to vibrate and if i turn, blip the throttle or change the motor trim it will go away some times to come right back and some times to go 2 or 3 trips and not occure. fuel load #of people or any change in load dosnt seem to make any difference.
i have been going over the drive looking for any thing out of place and this is the only thing i'v found
our old bayliner had a I 6 165 and it was so smooth maybe i just got spoiled
