Tiller handle for 71' 18 HP

I have a 1971 18 hp evinrude that i need a tiller handle for. It did have a cable steering system and a dual lever control box. I broke the throttle lever and i also dont like the cables running down the boat sides. My question is will a different year model and hp model fit my motor? I can get a tiller for a 1957 5.5hp evinrude for $40 on ebay. The gear is the same from the throttle gear and the motor but was wondering if it would still be the same.

$40 is a lot considering there are dozens of handles on ebay at any given time
