Tilt and trim ?????

Hey all I have a 14ft fishing boat I have restored and needed a motor for. With luck a family member gave me an 82 50 hp merc. After many repairs I have the motor running great and it is nice to be back out on the water. Here's my problem ... the motor has no tilt and trim. I have looked at all the salvage yards near me and none have one I could use on the motor. Yes I have seen the tilt and trim jackplates. However $400 + is a little out of my price range. I'm needing suggestion on what I may be able to do to retro fit a newer used model onto the 82. Or any other ideas anyone may have to help me out.

CHeck ebay frequently, there are lots of units for sale there. Could also check kijiji or craigslist for local sellers. I found a good working unit (complete with motor) for $200.

Have you determined what type of trim unit you need? I think the design changed somewhere in that time period from the remote pump/reservoir type to the motor mounted type.

i think i know were you can get one.. pm me and ill be able to tell you.. i'm new to this and i know that they would remove my post if place a marine shop right? well is really a boat salvage yard.. its the first and only one i've ever found..
