Re: tilt cylinder blowout!!
look at you reverse lock, there are markings on it for adjustment.
Here's how I figured out if it was the reverse lock causing inoperation.
disconnect your lower shift cable and your cable from the control.
you should now be able to move the arm that the reverse lock pivots on easily.
on mine I could feel a place where it seemed to have different resistance against force applied.
this was my engage/disengage point in the reverse lock, subtle but noticeable.
move to "one side" of this point and try the trim both ways. does it work both up and down? if it doesn't rotate the arm back the other way and past the resistance point.
now try the trim again up and down again...did this fix the problem?
that's what the marks are for, reverse locks can be adjusted.
my trim does not go up in neutral...it strains the pump and stops after a few inches...but once it is in either forward or reverse, both directions work great and that's the only time I'm adjusting trim is under way so when I get back to the dock I drift up on trailer, kill engine, shift into forward and raise trim for trailer.
it's a work around until I can adjust the reverse lock properly but I got so tired of messing with it I just deal with it this way as the boat trims normal under way and my drive doesn't lift up when in reverse.
hope this helps.
