Tilt Noise from Yamaha F115...

Does anyone else have any problems with the tilt making noise while trimming up on their Yamaha F115. It sounds like there is some air bubbles in the trim cylinder. I called my dealer and they told me that all the new Yamahas do this and if I trim it up and down 8 times its should go away. Unfortunately it did not go away. From what I understand the trim unit is self bleeding. Is this normal or should I take it in to the dealer? Thanks.

the unit is self bleeding. off the top of my head I cant remember what unit the F115 uses. some noise is rather normal for them. but sometimes we have found a few ounces of 30wt motor oil will quieten them down.when I get back to work Ill look for any bullitens

Mine does exactly the same. It sounds for all the world like it is full of air but the dealer says it's OK. Having said that the same dealer told me that my trim motor activating by itself when the motor is off is the fuel injectors cycling!!! ...W

without actually hearing it I cant say its all normal. I can say that some of the units were much noisier than others. and from memory I cant remember which unit the F115 used. some of the showa units are rather noisy and one of the other yamaha units is rather noisy. but the trim relay activating at shout off is NOT normal:) but yes the injectors cycle at shutdown but its just a brief chatter.

Hi,<br />Same "problem" with my F115. But it goes way after some cycle up and down with the trim. It seems only to be noise when the outboard has not been used for some day or so. I usually have the outboard tilted up all way when not used. I have used my F115 for 2 seasons, it is a 2003.

The trim activating by itself is normally a trim switch (likely one in the boat) shorting due to water in it. The most common one is the one in the bow on bass boats. The Yamaha fatory ones don't seem to often be the cause.
