tilt trim 90 hp nissan

i have a 90 hp nissan ns90a 3b7-1 12583. the tilt will come up but won't go down without pushing on the lower unit. it makes a cracking sound when i push it down. fluid reservoir is full to plug level with hydrolic fluid.

plumber,<br /><br />Some tilt/trim units rely mostly on gravity for the "down" side.<br /><br />Have you lubricated your tilt tube? It is the tube your steering cable goes through and should have a grease zerk or two facing forward.

thanks djohns 19 for your reply, i have greased the zerks you mentioned until the grease comes squirting out but maybe not enough,i've had a real stiff steering which i broke free a couple days ago thanks for the suggestion. plumber 1
