Did a search on replacing tilt-trim fluid and have seen the following suggestions: OMC fluid, auto transmission fluid and power steering fluid. Would regular hydraulic jack fluid be ok to use??

Thanks for your opinions.
Thanks for the opinion. I had just finished replacing all of the seals on a non-op tilt-trim unit for my 75 hp Johnson. I had all of the above mentioned fluids in my shop except the OMC stuff.
Used the jack oil to test the unit and it seemed to work fine. The jack oil feels a bit "heavier" than the others, so I'm wondering if that was a bad choice. I tend to stay away from the dealership unless I absolutely have to buy what they are selling.
Basicly what you want is a hydraulic oil.Dependent on how cold it gets when you use it, you want it thicker or thinner, because that is what decides upon the reaction speed of your tilt and trim
